2016 is the year of bread thanks to these two excellent Christmas presents. I have had lots of floury fun experimenting with both the Lekue bread maker (incredibly convenient for meeting your daily bread needs) and free form loafs from Brilliant Bread. I don't know about you but to me bread making has always seemed like some sort of mysterious alchemy achievable only by a talented few. When I watch Bake Off I feel nervous just watching those clever bakers present their loaves for judging. Even they get it wrong sometimes and they are baking wizards. However James Morton promises me I can bake 'something to be proud of' and after a quick flick through I select a recipe for basic white bread, roll up my sleeves and get my bake on. As you can see from the picture I managed to make something resembling bread. It tasted pretty bready too. It was actually insanely satisfying and I am now on a yeasty mission to perfect my bread making wizardry skills. Next stop baguettes.
